I’ve always loved seeing families write Bible verses and promises on the posts of their homes during the building process. It’s something I’ve dreamed of doing one day if we were to build a home and by God’s grace that time has finally come. A couple weekends ago my family and I came out to write on the frame of our home and today I want to share those verses with you. Many verses that we included are blessings for our home and also verses that have meanings to the different rooms throughout the house.
3 months into the building process, my husband suffered a massive stroke, leaving him unable to speak, move his right hand, and affecting his right leg as well, I decided to also include verses of Adonai’s promises on healing, restoration, and prayer. I fully believe that the Lord will heal and restore my husband, and knowing that there are verses of those promises behind the walls of our home brings me much comfort and hope as we continue to live out this journey.

I loved that the children were able to participate in writing the verses as well, and to see which passages they would pick and what rooms they'd write them in.

Here are some of those verses we chose to write on the posts of our home
and the meaning behind them for our family
Picture
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”

I love this verse because I want to envision those beautiful feet that will be entering our home bringing us His peace and His glad tidings.
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;

If we trust the Lord, then all will be well, including our building process!
Picture
Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

These verses I’ve memorized since childhood. Our Heavenly Father never grows weary. He’s always there to give us power when we are weak and renew our strength when we wait on Him.

Psalm 128
Blessed is every one who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.
When you eat the labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants
All around your table.
Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.
The Lord bless you out of Zion,
And may you see the good of Jerusalem
All the days of your life.
Yes, may you see your children’s children.
Peace be upon Israel!

I wrote this one in our kitchen and just love its promises!
Picture
Luke 10:5
But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’

Love this saying! It’s actually a tradition that my parents, aunts, and uncles have done for many years when they enter each other’s homes.
Isaiah 56:7
Even them I will bring to My holy mountain,
And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar;
For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations,

I love this verse because I want my house to be a House of Prayer. I would love to see prayer groups gather under our roof and also to be open to that individual soul that just needs comfort and prayer in her or his moment of distress.
Picture
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

This verse directly tells us to write His Word on the doorposts of our home and our gates.
Psalm 91:1-2
He who dwells in the secret place
of the Most High

Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord,
“He is my refuge and my fortress;

My God, in Him I will trust.”

The Lord is our refuge, and as we invite Him into our home, we pray that it will be a safe dwelling place.
Picture
Jeremiah 17:7-8
Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord,
and whose hope the Lord is.
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters,
and that spreadeth out her roots by the river,
and shall not see when heat cometh,
but her leaf shall be green;
and shall not be careful in the year of drought,
neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

This verse reminds me that if we trust in Adonai, our family and property will yield fruit in the right season.
Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord alway:
and again I say, Rejoice.

This is to remind me to always rejoice in Him, even in the hard circumstances of life as we are living through right now. No matter what, we are to rejoice in our trials and sufferings.
Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?

This verse just happens to be one of my all time favorites reminding us to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly. If I can teach that to my children before they leave our house, then I feel I have done what is asked of me as a mother.
Proverbs 14:1
The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.

Okay, I totally had to include this one as I’ve completely taken over the house build since my husband suffered a stroke. I pray daily that the Lord gives me wisdom in making decisions that pertain to our future home.

Matthew 14:19
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves.

My Matthew wrote this verse in our dining room for there to always be plenty of food in our home, and for the Lord to multiply if times get hard.
Jeremiah 29:5
Build houses and dwell in them;
plant gardens and eat their fruit.

Love this as we plan to do lots of gardening and planting!
Psalm 105:1
Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!

This verse was special to me because I pray that His deeds, especially in our life, will be shared with many in our home.
Psalm 4:8
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

This was a must for my bedroom! When I struggled with anxiety years ago, I would read this verse over and over reminding myself that the Lord will make me dwell in safety.
Picture
Psalm 132:3-5
“Surely I will not go
into the chamber of my house,

Or go up to the comfort of my bed;
I will not give sleep to my eyes
Or slumber to my eyelids,
Until I find a place for the Lord,
A dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

Another verse for our bedroom!
Deuteronomy 28:6
Blessed shall you be when you come in,
and blessed shall you be when you go out.

Loved this one! May everyone who enters and exits be BLESSED!
Picture
Joshua 24:15
But as for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord.

Classic Bible verse for any home! This one is in our living room of course.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

I love that this verse reminds me to always seek Adonai first thing in my day, and by doing that, He will answer and bless us.
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.

Amen. We invite our Heavenly Father to build our home with us. To oversee it from start to finish.
Numbers 6:24-26
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.”

I love that my brother wrote this verse in our entryway. It's a verse that we recite many times in our church when we pray over our children.

2 Samuel 7:29
Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed forever.”

I love that this verse invites Adonai into our home to bless it and be His house forever.
Isaiah 32:18
My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation,
In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places,

I love this verse because it gives us the Lord’s promise that His people will be secure and dwell in peace.
Picture
Matthew 7:25
...and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

We invite Yeshua to be the Rock of our dwelling so that no storm will take it down!
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.

Classic Bible verse for the kitchen! May our kitchen always have daily bread to share with a neighbor.
Picture
Hebrews 3:4
For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God.

I love this. I truly believe that God is building our home! We have been praying daily for the Lord to give our builder wisdom and to bless all of the contractors that are apart of the build.
Hebrews 13:2
Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

I’ve always loved this because we never know who the Lord may send to enter our homes.
Psalm 102:28
The children of Your servants will continue,
And their descendants will be established before You.”

Love this because we pray that our children’s children will continue to serve God forever.
Psalm 121:8
Yahweh guards you as you come and go,
now and forever.

Written on our porch posts, another verse that reminds us that He will preserve our going out and coming in.

Verses specific to my husband's healing journey
Picture
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls--
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
The Lord is my
strength;
He will make my feet like deer's feet,
And He will make me walk on my high hills.

Oh this one has touched my heart since childhood. Once again, no matter the circumstances in our lives we are commanded to rejoice! And I truly believe that Adonai will make Boris's feet like deer's feet that will walk not only all over our property, but also where Abba leads.
Lamentations 3:23
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

This was a must for the season that we are currently journeying through.

Psalm 71:20-21
You, who have shown me great
and severe troubles,

Shall revive me again,
And bring me up again from the depths
of the earth.

You shall increase my greatness,
And comfort me on every side.

And another one for Boris as well! I truly believe that Abba will revive him and increase his life in ways that we do not expect.
Mark 11:24
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

This verse I put in our home to remind us to keep pleading with Abba on my husband’s behalf. We know and believe that what we ask for, He will grant us if it is in line with His will.
Picture
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

I love this verse and remind my boys often that the Lord wants us to be courageous and strong
for He is with us despite any storm!
Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength,
A very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear,
Even though the earth be removed,
And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though its waters roar and be troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.

Another verse for my hubby!
Psalm 72:18-19
Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
Who only does wondrous things!
And blessed be His glorious name forever!
And let the whole earth be filled with His glory.

I love this because it reminds us of the wondrous things Abba does and I pray that we will always glorify His name in this home.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading through these and maybe you’ve been inspired to write some of these verses on the doorposts of your home.
May Adonai bless you and your home forever. Here's a couple more favorites!
Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

Okay, this one went to the boys room IMMEDIATELY!

Psalm 144:12-15
Our sons in their youth will be like full-grown saplings, our daughters will be like sculptured pillars fit for the corner of a palace.
Our barns are full with crops of every kind;
the sheep in our fields number thousands,
tens of thousands.
Our oxen are well-fed, our city walls have no breach, our people are not taken captive,
and there are no fires of protest
in our cities' open places.
How happy the people who have
in such conditions!
How happy the people whose God is ADONAI!

And last, but not least this verse describes our plans for our farmstead to a T!
